Professional Cleanings & Exams
We recommend visiting us at least twice a year for exams and cleanings, so small concerns never turn into big ones. A typical visit includes:
- A Dental Exam to check your teeth, gums, and jaw for problems
- A Professional Cleaning to clear away plaque and tartar you cannot reach
- An Oral Cancer Screening performed by Dr. Rigby during your exam
- Personal Guidance on keeping your smile healthy between your visits
Together, these steps help us treat issues while they are still simple.
Dental Sealants & Fluoride Treatments
Sealants are thin coatings painted on the chewing surfaces of your back teeth, where deep grooves can trap food and bacteria. According to the CDC, sealants can prevent up to 80 percent of cavities for two years and continue to protect against 50 percent of cavities for up to four years. Applying them is quick: the tooth is dried, the sealant is painted on, and it’s hardened with a light or left to set.
Fluoride treatments take a different approach by strengthening your enamel so it resists acid and decay better. They may even reverse the earliest signs of tooth decay before a cavity forms. Because both treatments are quick and comfortable, we can often add them to a regular exam and cleaning, and we can talk through whether one or both make sense for your teeth.
Custom Mouthguards and Nightguards
If you play contact sports, a custom mouthguard fits better and protects your teeth far more reliably than a store-bought version. We also make nightguards for people who grind their teeth in their sleep, which keeps your teeth from wearing each other down overnight and protects the work you have already invested in.
Oral Appliances For Sleep Apnea
A comfortable oral appliance holds your jaw in a position to help keep your airway open while you sleep. For many patients, oral appliances for sleep apnea are a simple, less invasive option to help reduce snoring and other symptoms. If you suspect sleep apnea, talk with your physician, and we can work alongside them.
Headache Prevention (NTI)
Waking up with a headache or sore jaw is often a sign of clenching, sometimes linked to temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. We can create a custom nightguard so you can rest comfortably while limiting the clenching that puts pressure on your jaw. If this sounds familiar, mention it at your next visit, and we can talk through your options.
Laser Gum Treatment
Gum disease often starts quietly, with bleeding or tender gums. Laser gum treatment lets us target affected areas precisely, and it is generally less invasive than traditional periodontal treatment, with shorter recovery times. Catching gum disease early gives you more options, which is another reason regular exams matter.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Dr. Rigby checks for signs of oral cancer during your regular exams. If you are at higher risk, ask for a more thorough screening at your appointment. Oral cancer is highly treatable when it is found early, which makes a quick check at every visit well worth it.
Emergency Dentistry
If you have a broken tooth, a dental abscess, or severe pain, call our front office first so we can help you decide what to do next. Our emergency dental care covers problems like cracked or dislodged teeth, swollen gums, and unbearable toothaches, and we’ll prepare a treatment room when you come in.
